Kids piddle in beds. It’s a fact. Some’ll stop when they’re about three years of age. Some’ll keep going till they’re 8 or 9 or 15 years old.
Whatever. The fact is, they wee all over the place, usually at Stupid O’Clock and you get an extra load of washing in your day plus the added bonus of dragging the mattress through the house, out the back and into the sunshine. And hope it doesn’t rain.
Recently, I attended a “Bloggers Brunch” where Protect-a-Bed were one of the sponsors on the day, and procured a Stain Safe Mattress Protector for the purposes of reviewing.
Thankfully, it also serves the very useful purpose of protecting a bed from Kid Wee. And other things as well. Like dribble and spew and those times you get really tired when reading your kids a book and your hand loosens its grip on your vodka glass and …
Anyhoo, the protectors are waterproof and the top is terry toweling, so they’re soft and prevent the bed from feeling cold. I know, because I’ve slept in the three year old’s bed when hes’ come in and woken us and Grumpy’s snoring becomes unbearable.
They’re like a fitted sheet, so easy to put on the bed, and they stay where you put them!
Mostly, I like that you can toss them in the wash with the rest of the bed stuff, just like normal, no special washing required. They dry pretty quickly – weather pending – and can also be stuffed in the dryer if need be.
(I actually have a few of these mattress protectors doing the rounds – for all the kids beds).
If you have a kid that is particularly piddly, and you’re a bit over washing all the bedding most days of the week, and/or you’re feeling a bit thingy about tossing a towel over the wet spot and going back to bed (or, *ahem*, placing the pre-schooler back on the piddled-on bits and going back to bed) they also have sheet protectors that are smaller and easier to handle at stupid hours of the morning.
They run across the bed, and tuck in at the sides, but only cover the area that is most commomly peed-on; from the pillow to about half way down the bed. It is also washable, and tumble dryer-able.
And they have a range of stuff that is reduces allergies and dust mits and prevents various kinds of dribble and other bodily fluids from making your mattress all icky.
You, too, can have a Protect-a-Bed bed protecty thingy.

Disclaimer: I was not paid to conduct this product review, but was given the waterproof mattress protector to try out, free of charge. Well, on the condition I talked about it. So I did. So there.
